Our Storz video otoscope allows us to perform a high-definition ear examination and detailed ear cleaning.
Advanced care and a friendly team who truly understand skin and ear conditions – because your pet deserves to be comfortable and happy.
Ear problems can be incredibly painful and frustrating for pets—and difficult to manage without seeing exactly what is going on inside. That’s why we use video otoscopy: a minimally invasive technique that gives us a clear, high-definition view of your pet’s ear canal and eardrum.
At Cheshire Veterinary Dermatology, our Storz video otoscope allows us to perform a full visual inspection of the external er canal, evaluate the tympanic membrane (eardrum) and remove debris. We can also perform a procedure called a myringotomy (a precise, controlled puncture of the eardrum to access the middle ear) to deal with middle ear disease.
We capture high-quality images and videos to explain our findings to you clearly and monitor the effect of treatment.
Video otoscopy offers a safe and effective way to treat and manage ear disease, with better accuracy, improved outcomes, and a more comfortable experience for your pet.

If your pet suffers from frequent or chronic ear infections or pain, video otoscopy is essential. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.
Video otoscopy uses a specialised camera to examine your pet’s ear canal and eardrum in detail. It has an excellent light source and magnifies the image which can not be obtained with a handheld otoscope.
Unlike a traditional otoscope, video otoscopy provides a magnified, high-definition view and allows for better access and treatment inside the ear, including the ability to flush, clean, and take precise samples.
Yes, pets must be under a general anaesthetic during the procedure to ensure their airway is protected and fluid does not pass through the eardrum, middle ear and auditory tube to the back of the throat.
It is essential for dogs with chronic or recurrent otitis, middle ear disease and foreign bodies and to visualise polyps or neoplasms.
Yes! We capture still images and video during the examination so we can walk you through the findings and explain the recommended next steps.
